The video camera Insert records to the SD card in MKV format. On a Mac, VLC sometimes will not play those files even though it supports MKV. Resetting VLC's preferences usually clears it.

• Open VLC
• Go to VLC, then Settings
• Choose Reset All

Then open the file again.
