The Swidget air quality sensor contained in our Insert is a 4-in-1 sensor capable of measuring gas, temperature, pressure, and humidity. The gas sensor can detect a broad range of gases to measure indoor air quality including Breath Volatile Organic Compounds (bVOCs) from:
- outgassing of paint
- furniture and/or garbage
- cooking
- food consumption
- exhaled breath and/or sweating
- lacquers
- paint strippers
- cleaning supplies
- furnishings
- office equipment
- glues and adhesives
- alcohol
An air quality index is calculated from measurements taken from the four sensors indicated above. The scale ranges from 0 (clean air) to 500 (heavily polluted air) as shown in the chart below. Since the index is a calculated value, the sensor can take up up to an hour to calibrate each time it is powered on (plugged into the host Device, or having the power reconnected to the host Device).
