Wi-Fi inserts (sometimes called Wi-Fi modules) snap into the front of any Swidget host — outlet, switch, dimmer, or timer switch — and connect it directly to your home Wi-Fi network. No hub is required. Once paired in the Swidget app you can control the device remotely and build schedules, automations, and notifications.
Insert types
Every Wi-Fi insert provides connectivity and control; most add extra features on top:
- Control — connectivity and app control
- Control + USB Charger — adds a USB charging port
- Control + Guide Light — adds a soft night light
- Control + Power Out Light — lights up during a power outage
- Control + Motion Sensor — occupancy and motion triggers
- Control + Temperature/Humidity — climate sensing, great for bathroom fan automation
- Control + Temperature/Humidity/Motion — combined climate and occupancy sensing
- Control + Air Quality — indoor air quality sensing (TVOC and estimated CO2)
- Control + HD Camera — video monitoring

Good to know
- An insert always needs a Swidget host to plug into — it is not a standalone device and does not fit a standard wall plate.
- Inserts can be moved between hosts. The functionality follows the insert.
- Sensor readings, schedules, and automations are managed in the Swidget app for iOS and Android.
- For network requirements, see Using Swidget with 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz networks.
