You may occasionally wish to reset the brightness settings on the Swidget Dimmer to their default values. A typical scenario would be if you changed the bulbs in the light fixture connected to the Dimmer and instead of changing the settings that are already there, you may wish to reset the Device. Use the instructions below to factory reset the Dimmer.
Factory Reset
To reset the MIN and MAX brightness limits to factory defaults, press and hold the OFF side of the paddle (the bottom) for 5 seconds. The light will flash 3 times.
Make sure you are holding the bottom, not the top
Holding the ON side for 5 seconds does something different: it puts the Dimmer into the mode used to set the brightness limits by hand, and it also flashes 3 times. Because the confirmation looks the same, it is easy to end up trimming the limits when you meant to reset them. If that happens, press OFF to cancel and start again on the bottom of the paddle. Setting the limits by hand is covered in Manually setting the MIN and MAX brightness limits on a Dimmer.
What the reset changes
The reset returns the brightness settings to the values the Dimmer shipped with. That includes the minimum and maximum limits and also the brightness the Dimmer comes on at, which returns to 60% of the available range. If you had trimmed either of those to suit your fixture, you will need to set them again afterwards, in the app or by hand.
