Swidget makes two smart outlet models. Both are standard-size 120 V receptacles that install in place of an existing outlet, and both have a port on the face that accepts any Swidget insert.
Models
- 15A Outlet (R1015SWA) — for standard 15 A circuits, the most common residential outlet.
- 20A Outlet (R1020SWA) — for 20 A circuits, with the T-slot (NEMA 5-20R) receptacle.
How the receptacles work
Each outlet has two receptacles that behave differently:
- The lower receptacle is the controlled outlet — it can be switched on and off from the Swidget app, by schedules and automations, or with the button on the insert.
- The upper receptacle is always on — it works like a regular outlet and is not controlled.
Adding smarts
On its own, a Swidget outlet works as a normal outlet. Snap in a Wi-Fi insert for app control, energy features, sensors, schedules, and automations with no hub required, or a Z-Wave insert to join it to a Z-Wave hub. The insert can be added, swapped, or upgraded at any time without rewiring.
All Swidget products are 120 V; there are no 240 V versions.
