Z-Wave inserts snap into the front of any Swidget host — outlet, switch, dimmer, or timer switch — and connect it to your Z-Wave network. Unlike Wi-Fi inserts, Z-Wave inserts require a Z-Wave hub (such as SmartThings, Hubitat, or Home Assistant with a Z-Wave controller); the hub provides the control, schedules, and automations.
The four Z-Wave insert types
- Z-Wave Control (ZW000UWA) — connectivity and control
- Z-Wave Control + USB (ZW001UWA) — adds a USB charging port
- Z-Wave Control + Temp/Humidity/Motion (ZW006UWA) — climate and occupancy sensing
- Z-Wave Control + Air Quality (ZW008UWA) — indoor air quality sensing
These four are the complete Z-Wave lineup; the wider variety of insert options (guide light, camera, and so on) is Wi-Fi only. Browse the collection at swidget.com/collections/z-wave-inserts.
Good to know
- Current-generation Swidget Z-Wave inserts are 800-series and support over-the-air firmware updates through compatible hubs. See Z-Wave Firmware Download.
- Because control runs through your hub, many setups keep working locally even without internet.
- An insert always needs a Swidget host to plug into; it is not a standalone device.
