Automation Recipe: Temperature-controlled ceiling fan
Description: This recipe automatically turns on your Swidget-controlled ceiling fan when the temperature rises and automatically turns it off when temperature returns to normal. This automation also works with a floor fan plugged into a Swidget Outlet. Simply plug your floor fan into the Controlled Outlet and follow the directions below, substituting the Controlled Outlet for the Switch.

Please make sure that you have downloaded the latest Swidget App from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
You will also need to ensure that you have installed one of the Swidget Devices and paired a Swidget Insert from the chart above.
- First, we will create the Temperature ON rule. Tap the Automations icon from the main menu.
- Tap Create Automation or the + sign.
- Tap Rule on the Automations screen and give your Rule a name.
- Tap Select Trigger and choose the Temperature () icon for the Swidget Switch that is controlling your ceiling fan.
- Choose Temperature Threshold on the Select Trigger screen, and under If temperature... Exceeds, enter a temperature at which your fan will turn ON and 5 minutes for the duration. This means that the fan will turn ON once your temperature has been exceeded for more than 5 minutes. It will stay ON until manually turned OFF or another trigger occurs. Tap Continue.
- Tap Add Action and choose the Switch that is controlling your ceiling fan.
- Choose Turn ON from the Select Action screen. Tap Continue.
- Tap Save Rule to have the Automation work all the time, or Add Start/End Times and/or specific days that you want it to operate.
- Next we will create the Temperature OFF rule. Tap the Automations icon from the main menu.
- Tap Create Automation or the + sign.
- Tap Rule on the Automations screen and give your Rule a name.
- Tap Select Trigger and choose the Temperature () icon for the Swidget Switch that is controlling your ceiling fan.
- Choose Temperature Threshold on the Select Trigger screen and under If temperature... Drops Below, enter a temperature at which your fan will turn OFF and 5 minutes for the duration. This means that the fan will turn OFF once the room temperature goes below your chosen temperature for more than 5 minutes. Tap Continue.
- Tap Add Action and choose the Switch that is controlling your ceiling fan.
- Choose Turn OFF from the Select Action screen. Tap Continue.
- Tap Save Rule to have the Automation work all the time, or Add Start/End Times and/or specific days that you want it to operate.
