Automation Recipe: Occupancy-controlled non-essential appliances
Description: This recipe turns OFF the Swidget Controlled Outlet as soon as Vacancy is sensed (0 minutes). Make sure to plug in your non-essential appliances to a power bar and plug the power bar into the Controlled Outlet.

- Monitor
- Desk Lamp
- Paper Shredder
- Air Purifier
- Space Heater
- Coffee Cup Warmer

Please make sure that you have downloaded the latest Swidget App from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
You must also have installed one of the Swidget Outlets and paired one of the Motion Sensor Inserts from the table above.
- Create an Occupancy rule to turn on the appliances while the room is occupied.
- Tap the Automations icon from the main menu
- Tap Create Automation or the + sign.
- Tap Rule on the Automations screen and give your Rule a name
- Tap Select Trigger and choose the Motion (
) icon.
- Choose Occupied on the Select Trigger screen and enter 0 mins for the duration. Tap Continue.
- Tap Add Action and choose the Device you want to control.
- Choose Turn ON from the Select Action screen. Tap Continue.
- Tap Save Rule to have the Automation work all the time, or Add Start/End Times and/or specific days that you want it to operate.
- Next we will create a rule so that the device turns off when the room becomes unoccupied. Tap the Automations icon from the main menu.
- Tap Create Automation or the + sign.
- Tap Rule on the Automations page and give your Rule a name.
- Tap Select Trigger and choose the Motion (
) icon.
- Choose Unoccupied on the Select Trigger screen, and enter 5 min for the duration. Tap Continue.
- Tap Add Action and choose the Device you used in the first rule.
- Choose Turn OFF from the Select Action screen. Tap Continue.
- Tap Save Rule to have the Automation work all the time, or Add Start/End Times and/or specific days that you want it to operate.
