When a 20/40/60 Control Switch is paired with an Air Quality Insert, or with one of the Temperature, Humidity and Motion variants, it turns on by itself under certain conditions:
- Air quality: turns ON when indoor air quality drops to moderate, and OFF once it has been good for 5 minutes
- Humidity: turns ON when relative humidity rises 15% above the daily average, and OFF once it has been within 5% of that average for 5 minutes
- Motion: turns ON when occupancy is sensed, and OFF once the space has been unoccupied for 5 minutes
These rules run on the Insert itself
They work with no Wi-Fi connection and without the Insert being paired to the Swidget app. That is deliberate, so the switch keeps doing its job on its own.
The trade-off is that you cannot change or override them unless the Insert is paired to the app over a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Pairing does not replace the rules, it gives you a way to adjust them.
If the rules are not running
The usual cause is Insert firmware that needs updating. Pair the Insert using the Swidget app on an internet-connected Wi-Fi network, then update its firmware, following Swidget App - Updating my firmware. Do this for each Insert that is not behaving.
For what the switch does more generally, see Using the 20/40/60 Control Switch.
